Its an ordinary sunset but i love how it signals that its time to slow down. Even the sea calmed down to give way to the grand show of the day.

While lazing under a tree on one of our favorite islands, I chanced upon this group of Japanese laughing and doing silly poses on the beach. These are just one of the everyday scenes in almost all the islands here in the Philippines. I can’t help but smile as I watch them enjoying their summer romp.

So, what’s an island gal to do during summer? Well, look for another island!

This island is off Cebu, it is actually located in Bohol, just 45 minutes away from Mactan, you’d think its part of Cebu.

Though not a usual sighting here in Cebu, (but it could be anywhere in the world anyway) intricate tattoos like this are usually worth a second look. One of my best buddies, a true-blue fashionista, thought that a pair of lacy gloves henna tattoo will make a lasting impression. As usual, her gothic/glam street chic fashion instinct never fails to predict such and it literally became a conversation “piece” that night!

I find body art interesting yet I’m not fond of tattoos and I’m not even considering of having one on any part of my body. I haven’t tried henna tattoo but since Halloween is just around the corner, perhaps this time, I’ll try it. I must say, I’m venturing through the wilderness… in a milder way.

One day, while looking through a display window, I saw the white rabbit waving and smiling at me. Curious. I had the sudden urge to talk to her. I asked the white rabbit “What’s that funny paper attached to your face?” I noticed that it says, made in Hongkong, China. “You came all the way from China!”

“But you’re Euro and Pounds all over. Are you sure you’re from China? And what are you doing here in the Philippines?” I enquired. Then suddenly, we heard a shrill voice “A slow sort of country!” said the Queen. “Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!”

I couldn’t resist, I have to tell the world about the rabbit. I was afraid, they’ll think i’ve gone entirely bonkers. I took out my camera…a click and a flash - the rabbit disappeared!

Then, I heard my daughter asking me to buy her a mask. “Now, dear, remember what i told you about carbon footprint and social responsibility?….”

St. Catherine of Alexandria Church – Carcar City, Cebu

I’ve been to this 124-year old church several times but it was only during our last road trip that i had the opportunity to take photos. Despite the town’s (now a city) rich arts & cultural heritage, I find this church very simple compared to some churches around Cebu. I find the balanced and detailed ceiling painting fascinating. Something bothered me though, I took several photos but all came out quite tilted. I did not bring a tripod yet i put the cam on the table. Still no difference. For a moment, i wondered if it has something to do with my beliefs. Then I figured, the church ground isn’t even since its on a small hill, that and i need powerful lenses as well.
